Sascha, a rebellious teenager, lives with his single mother in a conservative Swiss village. He ans his friends are bored and restless and get into the usual teenager trouble. Sascha‘s one salvation is his work in the forest where he earns some pocket-money. One day he finds a small cottage in the woods, where secret skinhead meetings are held. It doesn‘t take long before Sascha and his friends start to get involved in things, that will do him no good.
Sascha Buhlmann, Patrick and their friend Moni are drawn closer and closer to the exciting skinhead gang whose clubhouse is nestled deep in the forest. By comparison with their small town world of adults and failure to get the girls they want, this is a fascinating and exciting release for them.

Innocent-faced Sascha struggles with containing his anger and emotions. What starts with stealing money to take a girl to a concert, turns into a long string of escalating criminal acts and violent incidents. Sascha discovers he’s unable to control himself, his impulses and his violent outbursts, despite being a 'good kid'; he looks after his mother when she has an accident, and begins a job in tree felling. But nothing seems to be enough to keep him from following his fascination with the skinheads, least of all his best friend.

Silver Forest is a universal story that has wide political resonances with the growing pressure of issues with asylum seekers and racial tension in small towns. Above all, it looks at how young people's sense of play, sense of belonging and subjection to peer influence can lead them to become trapped in situations they don’t fully understand, and that are fully beyond their control.
