Born in Luzern in 1955, Werner Schweizer went to school in Solothurn, Bern and Schwyz. At the university of Zurich, he studied sociology, journalism, and European folk literature. Graduated as Lic. phil. I.
He is the co-author of «Leben im Widerspruch – Amalie und Theo Pinkus» («Life in Opposition – Amalie and Theo Pinkus»), which was published 1987 by Limmat Publishing Company, Zurich. In 1976 he co-founded the filmmakers cooperative Videoladen. Later, they founded this company.
Werner Schweizer is a graduate of EAVE (European Post Graduate Certificate in Audiovisual Production), 1990, and was the resident producer at the «atelier zerodeux», 2001-2003; a documenty workshop for young fimstudents at the EXPO 02. His documentary NOEL FIELD - THE FICTICIOUS SPY earned him much recognition and praise. Currently, his latest documentary HIDDEN HEART is screening in South African cinemas. |
