Born in 1955 in Baghdad, Iraq. Following studies at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zurich, he began an apprenticeship as a typographer. After training at a major Swiss film production company as a cameraman, he started directing his own films in the mid-1980s.
In the 1990s, he worked for a number of German stations as a director of television series and films. In 1994 he took over DSCHOINT VENTSCHR Filmproduktion together with Werner Schweizer and has since primarily produced projects by young filmmakers in Switzerland.
In 1997, he received the Zurich Film Prize for his work as a producer and then in 1998 was honored with the Swiss Film Prize for his short film ANGELIQUE. |
